God Bless America

I love my country. I know that may not be fashionable in today’s chaos, but I do. I love my country. I thank God I was born here. I thank God my children are Americans. I thank God I live in a nation the whole world is trying to get to. I am thankful I am an American citizen.

Again, that may not be fashionable today in an atmosphere were there are loud voices screaming that America is the main source of evil in the world today. Voices that even insist this country has been evil since its founding. Voices and ideologies that insist the only answer to American evil is the destruction of America. Voices and politics and real and imagined grievances that threaten to achieve the very goal of the enemies of America all across the world.

Of course, I also recognize the dangers of patriotism that says “my country right or wrong.” There is no future in that failed ideology either. To pretend this society has no problems is as much a delusion as the childish Marxists bent on destruction in our nation. We have problems. But we don’t have any problems we can’t address and work on. But for too many screaming in the streets, they don’t want the problems fixed. They want revenge. That will lead us nowhere fast!

I love my country and I am committed to fighting for this society and this nation as a faithful citizen who votes, who volunteers, and who stands for the principles this great nation is committed to achieve. I still believe what was written over 240 years ago: “We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.”

“A more perfect union” is what we will always work for. “Establish Justice” is what we must always aspire to. “Domestic tranquility” is what we will always pray for. “Provide for the common defense” is what we will always consider. “Promote the general welfare” is what we will always remember. “Secure the blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our posterity” is what we will always be committed to.

We will disagree with how to achieve these lofty ideals, but we must never abandon the focused fidelity to the principles. And we must never forget Who granted us this nation in the first place.

I love my country. I thank God I am an American. I make no apologies for this devotion and I will oppose all that wish to destroy rather than build up. I am an American. I am not a “White” American. I am not a “Southern” American. I am not a “Conservative” or “Progressive” American. I am an American. There is only one designation that commands higher devotion and commitment: I am an “Orthodox” American.
