Today we celebrate the Feast of the Falling Asleep of our blesses Theotokos and ever-virgin Mary.

In birth, you preserved your virginity; in death, you did not abandon the world, O Theotokos. As mother of life, you departed to the source of life, delivering our souls from death by your intercessions.
And consider this thought; if we never learn how to properly honor one another, how will we ever ascend in our hearts to be able to truly adore our loving God? Veneration is the stepping stone to Adoration. And venerating the Mother of God is our primary lesson in moving on to adoration.
