Two years ago we started Faith Encouraged Ministries to start organizing our media work in a way that would be both effective and useful. We applied for and received non-profit status from the IRS so any donations would be tax deductible for our partners and we started using what we had:
Weekly Homilies
A Monday through Friday devotional, both text and audio
A twice a month LIVE call in program where spiritual and practical topics could be discussed and shared
A growing community on Facebook with two active FB pages – Orthodox on Purpose and Faith Encouraged Live with Fr. Barnabas
And we watched the ministry grow!
Now, we are poised to finish the fundraising phase of our very first major project. It is a 20 Video Series designed to introduce the average person to the Orthodox Faith and it’s called “A Journey to Fullness.” This program grew out of the annual efforts at our home parish to introduce the faith to the hundreds of people who come each year to our Festival. We set out to raise a production budget of $85,000 to produce this video outreach tool and to make it available to parishes and other Orthodox groups so they have a tool to answer the question “What is Orthodox Christianity?”
Because of a generous donor, we have a commitment to match all donations until the end of the year up to $25,000, which means we could have our initial budget raised and ready this project to enter the production phase by the end of 2015! In 2016 we are looking forward to growing our outreach with the publication of Fr. Barnabas’ first book. More on that later.
